Our Cementitious Basement Tanking Slurry (20kg) can be used where water pressure or lateral penetrating damp is encountered within building structures such as cellars and basements. It can be applied either internally or externally. The product mixes with water to make a slurry which can be brush applied (trowel and spray application is also possible). Before application the substrate should be prepared i.e. removal of all loose material, the area should then be re-pointed and rendered if required using a 2:1 mix of washed sharp sand and cement (sulphate free cement if possible). The render should not contain salt retardant as this will inhibit the chemical interaction.
The product is suitable to go directly on to brickwork if the bricks are clean, not painted or treated with bitumen etc. if they are treated sandblasting would be required.
SBR Bonding Agent can be used as a primer between coats and diluted 3:1 in the gauging water. This will create a structural waterproofing system commonly referred to as 'tanking' within the industry. NB. Not all SBR concentrations are the same, ours is full strength.
Once dry the tanking is suitable to be rendered using a standard sand/cement mix, Lime render, renovating plaster etc. Again for improved bonding use diluted SBR in the mix or pre-applied.
Supplied in a mixing tub.
